On Tuesday, June 3, several local charitable organizations came before the members of the Sebastian Clambake Foundation to apply for beneficiary status for the 2008 clambake. All the projects were worthwhile, and the members had a lot to consider and discuss before making their decision.
Members voted to partially fund the City of Sebastian’s new flag pole project. It’s only for about $6,000.
After that, the designated amount for the beneficiaries will be split 50 -50 between the HALO animal rescue shelter (so they can complete their dog park) and the Sebastian Soccer Association, so they can complete work on the 2 fields.
Previous recipients:
- 2002 & 2003Boys & Girls Club - $80,000
- 2005 Senior Resource Assn. & By the River $ 30,000 each
- 2006 Sebastian Soccer Association ($30, 000+) & City of Sebastian ($20, 000+)
The slogan this year is “Clam Up and Chowder Down,” provided by Betty Castellucci of Citrus Bank. The Festival will run from November 7th thru 9th.
The reps of the ten member organizations choose where the money goes.
